Do this immediately
Power the device off and leave it off. Do not plug it in, do not charge it, and do not press buttons to see if it still works — current plus moisture is what destroys components.
Dry the outside, remove any case, and keep the phone upright so water drains away from the board. Then get it to a bench as soon as you can.
Why rice is a myth
Rice absorbs almost no moisture from inside a sealed device, and it drops starch and dust into ports. Meanwhile the corrosion clock keeps running.
Proper treatment means opening the device, disconnecting the battery, and cleaning residue off the board with the right solutions and tools.
